Do you recognise any of the people pictured?

The CCTV stills have been circulated by Wrexham Town Inspector Luke Hughes, who said he is looking to speak to the individuals in connection to crime locally.

Insp Hughes said: “All their images have been circulated internally, and local officers don’t know them.

“Maybe they have travelled into the area?

“Quite often the quality of CCTV we recover is pretty poor, so I certainly won’t make a habit of circulating Mr or is it Mrs Blurry face. But as you can see with these images, they are pretty spot on.

“Oh, and don’t start with the ‘I’m not a grass nonsense’. These people don’t respect you, don’t respect me and are only in it for themselves.

“Why protect them and give me or other officers grief for trying to protect our local businesses and community? Sorry, that one triggers me every time.

“Anyway, have a peek, let me know if you know them. Each has a crime ref. If you know them, just ‘drop me a DM’ as the cool kids say (do they?). I’ll do the rest.”

The remainder of Insp Hughes’ daily police update can be viewed in full below:

Beautiful day in the city.
Great result at the football last night.
Very few police incidents in the last 24hrs.
Two new episodes of ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ dropping tomorrow.
And the kids go back to school next week.

We truly are living the dream 🙂

As for the last 24hrs, it’s set out below.

11:30hrs: I started the day by visiting a seven-year-old boy who did something very brave last week, hopefully details will be released later this week and I don’t want to ruin the surprise here.

13:29hrs: Suspected shoplifting – retailer on Border Retail Park. Male suspect now linked to a total of seven offences. He’s hardly fleet of foot, so officers tasked with tracking him down today.

The suspect is no spring chicken and has hasn’t offended for some time. Now suddenly, quite a few in quick succession, what’s changed? And why is he now coming to attention?

Maybe a candidate to try some intervention work rather than just push through the criminal justice route, it’s worth a try.

14:10hrs: Report of suspicious vehicle on High Street – vehicle suspected to be linked to retail theft and making off without payment.

Officers block it in to prevent it driving off, no one with vehicle but occupants eventually return, and the passenger was wanted on suspicion of theft from another area.

Will follow up slow time, dubious trader policy on vehicle but appears to check out. Vehicle allowed on its way.

14:29hrs: Report of a heated and physical argument involving two females on Chester Street. Officers respond, two females located, totally denial so will follow up with CCTV and/or witnesses. Totally unacceptable behaviour – grow up.

16:26hrs: Call from female who has concerns for her mother, welfare check conducted by officers and found to be safe and well.

16:56hrs: Home Office authorise a recall to prison for a local male who causes me mild anxiety for his potential to commit volume crime. Arrested within the hour following a foot chase (see we do win some). My anxiety levels return to normal.

18:34hrs: Further reports of issues in relation to a certain Flat in Ty Henblas. NPT chasing the outcome of a possession hearing last week.

The flat has caused misery locally, if no date imminent then we have to move towards a police led closure order.

18:41hrs: Concerns for a missing male – triggers an extensive search – male located safe and well then taken to a place of safety.

19:59hrs: Box Lane –BMW 335D makes off from officers. Driver clearly didn’t want to hang around for a chat.

He is described as having a “round face” and wearing shorts and a T-shirt. Vehicle recovered having failed to stop. Shame, I guess you’ll be walking for a while. Likely a ‘someone stole my car report’ in the next 24hrs, oh really..

20:44hrs: Officers respond to pendant activation OAP – all in order on arrival.

20:53hrs: Report of two off-road bikes riding the Queensway – no lights / no helmets and clearly massively inconsiderate.

What if you fall and seriously injure yourself? How will your family feel when we have to tell them? What if you hit a car and hurt someone in that car; or a child runs out? Really, please grow up.

21:21hrs: Arrest female – Pentre Gwyn – drunk and disorderly.

21:43hrs: Welfare check male – taken home to be safe.

21:47hrs: Anonymous webchat stating ongoing issues in a street. Same person is contacting us daily – never anything there on attendance – I suspect it’s malicious and officers will no longer be responding unless the person provides personal contact details.

No burglaries or thefts of note, in addition to the above we had a few abandoned 999 calls etc, usually pocket dials. etc.

Have a good day, remember we are all in this together and I’ll speak to you tomorrow.
