Wrexham residents urged to have their say on policing as consultation enters final week

Wrexham residents are being urged to share their views on how the county should be policed, as a public consultation headed by Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Andy Dunbobbin enters its final week.

The consultation, which began in July, is designed to inform a four-year policing strategy aimed at tackling crime across the area.

The survey, set to close on Friday, 27 September, offers local residents a chance to influence the North Wales Police’s upcoming Police and Crime Plan.

This plan will shape how communities across the region are policed until 2028.

“With only a few days remaining to take part in this crucial consultation on the Police and Crime Plan for North Wales, I am urging people from all communities, backgrounds, ages, and walks of life to have their say on how they want to see their community policed for the next four years,” Andy Dunbobbin said.

He emphasised the importance of the public’s input, noting that the plan’s success relies on ensuring that it reflects local concerns and priorities.

The Commissioner highlighted that this summer’s consultation extended beyond the six weeks typically recommended, running for over 10 weeks to maximise participation. “I know from this process that many have firm views on what they want to see happen in their neighbourhoods,” he added.

The consultation is accessible online via a short five-minute survey, available in both English and Welsh. Alternatively, residents can request a paper copy by contacting the PCC’s office by email, phone, or post.

Beyond shaping policing policy, the PCC’s office also plays a key role in supporting community services, including those aiding crime victims and working to reduce reoffending.

During his election campaign, Mr Dunbobbin made several pledges, including a commitment to neighbourhood policing, victim support, and ensuring a fair and effective justice system.

Residents have until Friday to take part in the consultation by visiting the online survey or contacting the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner directly.
