A Wrexham-based manufacturer of standby electrical power systems has been recognised at a prestigious UK-wide business awards.

Riello UPS’s Multi Power2 solution received the ‘UPS Product of the Year’ category at the Excellence Awards, an annual industry celebration co-hosted by the Electrical Review and Data Centre Review publications.

It was also shortlisted in the ‘Data Centre Backup Power Solution of the Year’ category too.

Based on the Wrexham Industrial Estate the company, which employs around 90 staff, received the accolade at a black-tie ceremony staged at Christ Church in Spitalfields, London in May.

Multi Power2 is Riello UPS’s latest modular solution that provides smart, scalable, sustainable backup power to data centres and other mission-critical environments.

Manufactured using high density 67 kW power modules, it delivers market-leading 98.1% efficiency, which minimises customers’ energy use and running costs.

This year’s win follows on from a similar triumph at the Excellence Awards 2022, when the original Multi Power modular range won the ‘Power Product of the Year’ prize.

Leo Craig, Managing Director of Riello UPS, commented: “It’s amazing to earn further recognition at one of the UK electrical industry’s most respected events. Multi Power2 is one of our flagship products and this award helps reinforce its growing reputation for reliable performance, unparalleled efficiency, and simple scalability.”

Based at a 27,500 square foot warehouse on Wrexham Industrial Estate, Riello UPS is one of the country’s leading manufacturers of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).

It provides emergency electricity until backup generators kick in, as well as keeping computers and ICT equipment running long enough to safely shut down with minimal risk of data loss.

In addition to data centres, Riello UPS also supplies products and ongoing maintenance support to clients in mission-critical environments as diverse as hospitals, supermarkets, universities, telecommunications and finance, manufacturing, sports stadia, and shopping centres.

The Excellence Awards is hosted in partnership by the influential industry publications Electrical Review and Data Centre Review.

It aims to “celebrate excellence, best practice, innovations, and technical developments across the electrical and data centre industries”. The 2024 awards featured prizes in 30 categories covering both products and projects across areas such as sustainability, innovation, and energy efficiency.

Following on from its win at the Excellence Awards, Multi Power2 also earned recognition in another major industry event.

It was named runner-up in the ‘Data Centre Power Innovation of the Year’ category at the Data Centre Solutions (DCS) Awards 2024, the annual “celebration of the data industry’s impressive achievements, recognising customer success stories, technology innovation, and both individual and company contributions to the sector”.
