Wrexham filmmaker embarks on “daring theatre adventure” in Venice
A Wrexham filmmaker has embarked on a daring theatre adventure in Venice – with an unexpected twist!
Robert Corcoran travelled to Venice to explore the history of theatre and whether it can be reimagined.
Across the 12 minute film, which is available now on Youtube, Robert traces the history of theatre and crafts in the city, meeting with everyone from Venetian mask makers to Murano glass masters.
“Like a lot of people, I’m fascinated by the history of art,” explained Robert.
“So it was a dream of mine to go to this place, that used to be the centre of the universe not so long ago – to make my own crazy contribution.”
That contribution includes, ‘challenging the definition of theatre’ by performing a new play in an empty theatre, before burning the only copy of the script.
“I sealed the ashes of the script in a Murano glass vase, which I’m happy to report made it safely back to Wrexham and is now sitting in our office,” added Rob.
Next up for 73 are some projects a little closer to home – releasing a documentary/game show episode from last year’s popular ‘Mystery Box Store’ and some fun new short video series in Wrexham – all coming later this month!
You can see those projects first on the 73 Degree Films’ Youtube, Instagram and Tiktok.
