A Wrexham councillor is preparing to brave the colourful shave in aid of a local hospice.

Since September 2 Smithfield councillor, Jon Jolley, has been sporting bright blue/turquoise hair to help raise funds for Nightingale House Hospice.

Cllr Jolley’s hair, which was dyed at New Wave Hairdressers last week and is the colour of the hospice’s logo, will be shaved off on September 16.

So far he has raised £500 for Nightingale House.

Cllr Jolley said he chose to support the hospice as a way to give back to the charity, which had provided care for his grandad and several friends towards the end of their lives.

“Nightingale House Hospice have been providing incredible care for the people of Wrexham for almost 30 years,” he said.

“I wanted to use my limited platform to raise some more money for charity, and thought what better way than to raise it for an organisation that has looked after both my friends and family during some of their most trying times.

“For two weeks in September- starting Sept 2 with the help of New Wave Hair – I will be dying my hair the Nightingale house colours, and two weeks later I will be braving the shave and taking it all my hair off for charity.”
