A Wrexham councillor and former mayor has created a number of pieces of artwork depicting the wonders of spring and the emerging biodiversity.

Cllr Ronnie Prince, who represents the Cartrefle ward, is a self-taught artist who enjoys painting whenever he can.

A lover of wildlife and nature, Cllr Prince has previously organised the planting of wildflower habitats on Cefn Road in Caia Park to help boost  biodiversity in the area.

With the onset of spring, ex-Mayor Cllr Prince has been busy completing a number of pieces of artwork depicting the wonders of this colourful season.

Cllr Prince said: “I am a self taught artist who loves to paint when time allows.

“I find it very therapeutic and helps me to relax and unwind”.

“Growing up my mother said to me “Ronnie everyone needs a hobby to keep their mind occupied”.

“I could add to that statement and say, everyone should have an interest that inspires them, whatever that might be.

“I’ve always loved butterflies, because they remind us that it’s never too late to transform ourselves.

“Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a beautiful butterfly.

“A lot of people are going through some tough times at the moment and if my artwork encouraged some of them to take up a new hobby whatever that might be, that would be a positive thing.”
