Wrexham Council has reaffirmed its commitment to replacing the windows and doors of its social housing stock within the next 10 years.

Works on more than 400 properties across Wrexham and the surrounding villages of Holt, Penley, Overton, Bettisfield, Bangor on Dee, Gwersyllt, Cefn y Bedd, Cefn Mawr and Pentre Maelor have been completed during the first phase of the programme.

The 10 year windows and doors replacement scheme is being delivered by concentrating on the age of the existing windows and doors.

It aims to improve the thermal efficiency and security of its properties and supports the council’s ongoing commitment to provide homes that meet the new “Welsh Housing Quality Standard” and also contribute towards decarbonising our housing stock.

Wrexham Council has reaffirmed its commitment to the programme – which is subject to funding.

Councillor David A Bithell Lead Member for Housing said, “We are committed to continuing to provide high quality windows and doors via our 10 year programme, this will be subject to available funding.

“Our second phase is due to commence in the next approaching financial year, and we look forward to updating you further on our progress.”

Further areas are included during the second phase of the programme, which is due to commence and run during the 2024-25 financial year.

The existing windows and doors that are removed are being recycled in a recycling plant and processed into resin so that they can be reused for other items.
