Wrexham contractors join together in aid of children’s hospices

Maintenance staff from HMP Berwyn in Wrexham are putting their best feet forward with a charity hike up the famous Yr Wyddfa / Snowdon.

The team of 12 from contractors Amey Plc will be taking on the challenge and weather permitting tackle the longer Llanberis Path route up Wales’ highest peak on Tuesday 3 October.

The team have chosen Hope House Tŷ Gobaith chldren’s hospices as their adopted charity to benefit from their Social Impact Day 2024.

Robin Griffin, Facilities Supervisor, said: “As a company, Amey is pleased to help out with any charity to improve life for anybody who can’t help themselves.

“Personally, I will be pleased to join my colleagues in raising awareness of this great cause.

“We’re really looking forward to it and some of the group have never walked Yr Wyddfa before.”

Bethan Young, Wrexham area fundraiser for Hope House Tŷ Gobaith, said: “We’re thrilled the team from Amey have selected us as their chosen charity.

“Social Impact Days are a brilliant way for companies to demonstrate their commitment to their community. And what better way than helping us to care for and support seriously ill local children and their families.

“We’ll be thinking of the team every step of the way and wish them so much luck. Thank you.”
