Woman dies after “difficulties in the river” near Erddig

A woman has died after reportedly getting “into difficulties” at a river near Erddig.

Shortly before 9:30am on Saturday (December 9) emergency services were called to the river, just off Ruabon Road.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: “We were called at 9.28am on Saturday morning by colleagues at WAST (Welsh Ambulance Service Trust) reporting a female that was in difficulties in the river just off Ruabon Road in Wrexham.

“Officers attended, and sadly the woman had passed away.

The family have been informed, as has the local Coroner’s Office.

“The circumstances are not thought to be suspicious.”
