Warning issued after spate of “theft from vehicles” in Rhosddu and Acton
Police have issued a warning following a spate of thefts from vehicles in Rhosddu and Acton.
NWP Wrexham Town says that in some instances cars have been left unlocked and then opened and searched.
Police are urging owners to ensure that their vehicles are locked and secured.
A spokesperson for NWP Wrexham Town said: “We have received recent reports of thefts from vehicles in the Rhosddu and Acton areas of Wrexham, where cars left unlocked have been opened and searched.
“Now the mornings are a lot colder, and the nights are darker, we would urge people to ensure they are keeping their vehicles locked and secure to prevent opportunistic thieves.
“Here are some tips that could help your vehicle from being targeted:
- Make sure your vehicle is locked at all times.
- Don’t leave vehicle keys close to your front door. Thieves may use your letterbox to reach into your property to take them.
- If you need to defrost your car in the morning, don’t leave your car running and unattended as thieves may be watching for an opportunity to drive it away.
- Don’t keep valuable items or cash in your vehicle. If you need to, keep them out of sight in the glove box or in the boot.
“If you see anybody acting suspiciously in your area, please report it to at the earliest opportunity either by calling 101, or via the website.”
