A village library is a step closer to being reopened at a new location thanks to the work of a local working group.

Over recent months a working group led by Councillor Paul Rogers has been looking at options to reopen the library using volunteers.

It has now been agreed following discussions that that the library can reopen in the former youth club space within St Mary’s School.

Proposals to relocate the library to Brymbo Enterprise Centre collapsed earlier this year following a decision by Welsh Government not to award grant funding. This resulted in discussions opening up with the Chair of Governors and Head Teacher at the school.

Cllr Rogers said he would now work to form a new community group to run the library. Cllr Rogers added: “The decision by the Governors at St Mary’s School to allow us to use the former youth club to reopen Brymbo Library is excellent news for the village.

“It is a trial and it may only be a temporary location however there will be great opportunities for the school having such a great facility on site.

“The next step is to form a community group to help run the library and we are looking for local residents to be part of the committee and to help volunteer. All help is greatly appreciated.”

It is hoped that the new library could reopen in the Autumn of this year.
