Update: Wrexham Male Who Died Following Skate Park Event Named

A 20-year-old male from Wrexham who died after attending an event in Oswestry over the weekend has today been named.

West Merica Police confirmed this morning that the Wrexham male has been named as Matthew Jones, who had turned 20 on November 1st.

A post mortem is due to take place in the next days days.

Police were called following a report of the death of a man in the early hours of Saturday morning. The death of the male is being treated as suspicious.

Over the weekend West Mercia Police released a statement regarding the incident, saying: “The 20-year-old man from Wrexham, had attended an event at a skate park on Rednal Industrial Estate, Oswestry, Shropshire. He was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced deceased, his next of kin have been informed.

“His cause of death is unknown, but police are treating it as suspicious.”

“Our inquires are still currently on-going, and we are appealing for witnesses to come forward who may have any information to contact West Mercia Police on 101 quoting 219s 1st November.”
