North Wales Police have named the victim of a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on Monday 17th June 2013 on the A541 Pontblyddyn to Caergwrle road in Flintshire as 21 year old Kieran Arnold from Cymau near Wrexham.

Inspector Martin Best of the North Wales Police Roads Policing Unit said “At about 5.00pm on Monday 17th June 2013 a road traffic collision took place on the A541 between Pontblyddyn and Caergwrle between a silver Land Rover Discovery and white and orange Ford Transit Van in which a local man tragically sustained fatal injuries.  His family, who are being supported by a Police Family Liaison Officer, have made a brief tribute but are clearly extremely distraught and have asked their privacy be respected at this very difficult time.”

Speaking on behalf of the family Kieran’s mother Donna said “Kieran was a fantastic son to David and I and a loving big brother to Aaron (8) and Steffan (6).   Kieran was a keen bodybuilder who enjoyed all sorts of sports including football and generally keeping fit.   He was well thought of within his work as a plumber and was a hard working lad with drive and ambition, and aspired to start his own business.

“Kieran was a handsome young man who spent most of his time with his long-term girlfriend Lizzie.  Kieran has been tragically taken from us at the age of 21, and will be sorely missed by every member of his loving family.  His loss has affected the whole family greatly.  David and I extend our deepest thanks to all our family and friends for their help and support throughout this devastating event.”

Insp Best concluded “We are renewing our appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has any information concerning it, to contact PC Mark Lightfoot at the Roads Policing Unit by phoning 101 and quote reference RC 13095250”

A 47 year old local man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving remains in Police detention awaiting questioning.

If you have any information about the collision North Wales Police can be contacted on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
