Two friends will be taking on their toughest challenge to date when they walk from Wrexham to Cardiff in aid of Nightingale House Hospice

Sam Roberts and Cindy Jones, from Gwersyllt, will set off on their journey from Nightingale House Hospice February 27th and aim to arrive at the Principality stadium by St David’s Day.

Their journey will see them pass through Oswestry, Welshpool, via Llandrindod Wells and Builth Wells before going through the Brecons and ending down at Cardiff.

They hope to raise £1,000 for Nightingale House Hospice, which provides specialist palliative care services, completely free-of-charge, to patients and their families across a wide area stretching from Wrexham, Flintshire and East Denbighshire to Barmouth and the border towns including Oswestry and Whitchurch.

Sam said: “We both have, like many a personal connection to Nightingale House Hospice.

“My father in law and Cindy’s mother in law benefited from the care they give, not only the care they gave to our family but the ongoing support they gave to all family members by way of counselling and so much more.

“We have to also mention a wonderful chap called Mr Steve Williams from Clean Solar Solutions company that have donated a sizeable amount towards our total and provided walking equipment to us.”

During the four day period the pair will be using Sam’s camper van as a mobile support unit, with drivers meeting them both along the route. The camper van will also double us as a hotel on wheels during the challenge as well.

Sam added: “It’s going to be tough for us but I’m sure we will support each other and come through feeling good.

“So we are asking all you lovely people to please, please spare a couple of quid for a good cause! Or if your feeling particularly generous then throw in a few extra pounds just to enjoy the fact we will be punishing ourselves.”

You can donate to Sam and Cindy’s Justgiving and help them reach their £1,000 target, here.
