Three Day Roadshow To Help Householders Save Money on Energy Bills

A three day event informing householders on how they can save money on their energy bills is to take place next week.

Organised by Wrexham Council’s Housing Service, the three day ‘Saving Energy and Cutting Bills’ will take place in a pop-up shop in the town centre.

The event aims to show householders how they can save money from their energy bills and will be run in partnership with the Energy Saving Trust and Groundwork North Wales.

Groundwork will be there to advise on energy saving measures and to offer practical advice on how saving energy will reduce energy use and cut fuel bills.

The Energy Saving Trust will be there to promote the Welsh Government’s successful Warm Homes NEST scheme. This has been set up to provide households on lower incomes with access to a range of advice and support to help them reduce their energy bills. NEST provide advice on saving energy, money management, energy tariffs, and benefit entitlement.

Staff from the Council’s Housing Service will also be available to provide advice on other issues such as provides advice on other housing and energy issues, such as the Loan Improvement Scheme and Community Switch.

The three day roadshow will be held at the shop unit at 23 Henblas Street in Wrexham town centre (near to the Main post office) and will be open from 11am-3pm From Monday 6th June to Wednesday 8th June.

Lead Member for Place, Environment & Transport, Cllr David Bithell, said: “There are many ways to save money on energy bills and I’m delighted that this roadshow is taking place to help advise householders. It will be located in an accessible area of the town centre and I’d encourage everyone to take advantage of the advice on offer.”

Lead Member for Housing, Cllr Ian Roberts, added: “Saving money on energy bills can be a huge advantage for tenants and residents, particularly those on lower incomes and it can be surprising how much money can be saved through just doing one thing like changing your energy provider.

“The information available will be useful to all types of householders and I hope to see a positive turnout at the event.”
