Thieves broke into a Gresford church stealing silver believed to be worth in the region of £3,000 over the weekend.

The burglary took place at All Saints church at some point between Friday night and Saturday morning.

Some of the silver stolen is over 50 years old and includes cups and plates used for communion.

Police have contacted Father Tudor Hughes at the church to say that they believe they have found some of the stolen silverware.

The front door of the church was damaged during the burglary with a large chunk of wood broken off it.

North Wales Police have confirmed that they were called to a burglary at the church at 10.30am on Saturday and that they believe some of the silverware has been found.
