‘Spate’ Of Vehicle Number Plate Thefts In Wrexham

Police in Wrexham are urging motorists to be on their guard after a spate of car number plate thefts in the area.

Thieves have been targeting cars at car parks, outside homes and on home drives. They are being used on vehicles involved in crimes across Wrexham, such as making off from petrol stations without paying.

In recent weeks incidents have been reported in the town and rural areas.

Number plates have been stolen from cars parked in;

· Pen y Bryn Wrexham August 20

· Tryweryn Place Wrexham August 23

· Y Wern Wrexham August 27

· Attempted theft Wrexham Road Rhostyllen August 27

· Overton Road, Penley September 1

Sgt Helen Douglas said: “We are asking people to be vigilant and to report any suspicious behaviour around vehicles on 101. We would also encourage people to use their garages, if they have one.”
