An election will be held on Thursday 23rd to decide who gets to be the new councillor for Smithfield ward. ‌

If you live in the Smithfield ward make sure you turn out to have your say by voting!

We have attempted to contact all candidates to conduct a quick ‘Q&A’ with them along the same lines as every council election previously, along with an opportunity to introduce themselves to you. With some delays this end we are now publishing them over the coming days.

Today we are featuring the responses from candidate Toni Prince – Independent ‌ :

My name is Toni Prince and I was born and raised in Wrexham. I had a Welsh medium education by attending Ysgol Bodhyfryd Juniors and then Ysgol Morgan Llwyd senior school. I am a parent of school age children.

Some of you may remember me or already know me when I worked at the Woolworths cafe here in Wrexham. I now work at Lloyd’s Bank financial group (formerly MBNA) as a

Customer Service advisor and have been for the past 16 years. As part of my job I feel it’s important to support people and small businesses. I think it’s vital to our community and economy to fight for the issues that matter to us all.

If elected I will campaign on behalf of anyone in the Ward who contacts me with any Council related problem, no matter how big or small.

I do believe we need to take care of our natural environment, for us and for future generations.
My hobbies are, long country walks, boxercise and cooking.

The full candidate list for the Smithfield by-election is below, with links to the Q&A / replies we were sent where applicable:

Richard Bennett – Independent
Siôn Edwards – Welsh Labour
Jayne Johnson – Independent
