Wrexham AFC say they are delighted to announce the signing of defender Will Boyle from Huddersfield Town.

Left-sided centre-back Boyle, 27, has signed a three-year deal at the Football Club, and joins up with his new team-mates ahead of the US Tour.

A former promotion-winning Cheltenham Town team-mate of Wrexham AFC club captain Ben Tozer, Boyle said: “I’m delighted the deal’s over the line, and looking forward to getting started.

“It’s a good time to join – I can’t say anything that people don’t already know about what’s happening at this Football Club – but it’s also a perfect time for me to join, I feel, and a perfect opportunity for me.

“It’s exciting to be a part of. As soon as I knew there would be an opportunity to join, it excited me. It’s a Club that is only going in one direction.”

Boyle started his career in the Huddersfield Town academy, breaking through to the first team and spending time on loan with the likes of Kidderminster, Macclesfield, York City and Kilmarnock.

It was his move to Cheltenham that ignited his career, however, as he went on to make nearly 200 appearances for the Robins and played alongside Tozer in defence as they won promotion to EFL League Two.

Boyle was named in the EFL League Two Team of the Season that year, alongside Jordan Tunnicliffe and Paul Mullin.

After one season in League One, Boyle then returned to Huddersfield Town and made 18 appearances for the EFL Championship side last season.

And on his signing, Wrexham AFC manager Phil Parkinson said: “Will is a strong addition to the squad; he’s had success in this division before and then played in League One and had a taste of the Championship last season too.

“I feel his character will fit in perfectly with the group, and it’s pleasing to get a signing through the door prior to departing for America.”
