Roads & Transport Latest

Snow is still hampering road travel in and around Wrexham days after we were hit with a largely unexpected amount of snowfall last Friday.

We have been out and about and the roads in and around the town centre are largely clear and passable. For those working on the industrial estate, the amount of snow lying on the ground is considerably less than some residential areas so roads are far easier to navigate.

Some of our twitter followers have reminded people in the local area to clear the roof of their car prior to travel, as this could cause an accident and may be deemed driving without due care and attention.

The A5 between Llangollen and Corwen is and will remain shut for today due to overhanging and fallen trees.

Steve Wynne (@swwynne) has warned against travel on the High Street in Coedpoeth due to abandoned vehicles at the side of the road.

Jimmy Kranke (@JimmyKranke) has lauded Sainsbury’s for a ‘snow free’ car park!

Here’s the latest updates on public transport:-

Access problems to Kings Street have prevented buses from travelling in and out of Wrexham Bus Station.

ARRIVA

#1 Bus – Arriva Buses have reported that the 1 Bus between Wrexham and Chester is running a full service and is departing from somewhere close to Kings Street! Their Facebook page comments “We will stop as close to Kings Street as possible.”

#X94 Bus – The X94 between Wrexham and Plas Madoc is running

#32/33 – This is operating but omitting the Bradley Circle and will only travel on the main road in Llay.

#3 and 4 – This service to Penycae is limited and is only operating to Rhos
#8 – Wrexham to Queens Park operating on main roads only
#10/11 – This is operating via the A525 and terminating at the Five Crosses
#12/13 – Service 12/13 operating as far as the Rollers. Service to Industrial Estate operating as 13A.
#14 – This is operating up to Brymbo Heights but not currently serving Tan-y-Fron

GHA Coaches

GHA have reported issues at their Ruabon depot as abandoned vehicles are affecting their movement in and out of the base.

#23 – Wrexham to Summerhill running a ‘near normal’ service

Service between Wrexham and Corwen not operating due to the closure of the A5 between Llangollen and Corwen.

10.40AM Update – GHA have been in touch and estimate they are running at 80%, with out of town services largely unaffected but smaller localised services the cause of some disruption.

More updates as we get them…….
