Police have increased foot patrols in Cefn Mawr following an “isolated incident” on Monday morning.

An investigation was launched by NWP Wrexham Rural yesterday (June 24) after reports of an incident involving a woman in her 20s at around 6am.

It is believed to have taken place near the Tesco Roundabout (B5096 Well Street and Oxford Street) around this time.

Police have moved to reassure the public over what has been described as an “isolated incident”.

Detective Sergeant Michael Starkey said: “I would like to reassure residents in Cefn Mawr this was an isolated incident, and we do not have any wider concerns for the safety of the community.

“Foot patrols have been increased in the area for reassurance purposes and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

“We are continuing to appeal to anybody who was in the area of the roundabout near to Tesco in Cefn Mawr around 6am on Monday morning to contact us via the website, or by calling us on 101, using reference number 24000555032.

“We will issue further updates as the investigation progresses.”
