Wrexham’s Inspector Luke Hughes has given another lengthy insight to 24 hours of policing in the city.

The update details a range of incidents as well as the work local police do in the community such as welfare checks.

As always the full update, covering Wednesday into Thursday, is below:

Afternoon all ,

Sorry my updates are a little stop start this week, it’s been quite a busy few days admin wise. But, I’ve found some time to put virtual pen to virtual paper.

In fact, I should have had quite a bit of free time over the next few days. I was due in Scotland to give evidence in the “Sheriffs Court”, however, whilst on the train, I was stood down. I promptly got off and returned to whence I came. Why would I want to spend a few days in sunny Glasgow when we have the best city in the world on our doorstep. Anyway, I’m home, so time to update you all on the last 24hrs.

I’ll start with a man who is accused of doing some late-night garden shopping on Monday evening and helping himself to solar lights from someone’s garden. Within a few hours of the report, the suspect was arrested thanks to local knowledge… He will have his time in court soon.

24hr Review (7am Wednesday to 7am Thursday)

07:42hrs – Report of damaged windows on Glyndwr Road – no suggestion of any attempt to gain entry, outer pane damaged, follow up scheduled.

09:48hrs – Reports of a vehicle taken from the area of Gateway – enquiries ongoing to establish the full circumstances, suspected to be an isolated incident at this time.

‍ 09:55hrs – Quite a bizarre report that requires some follow up. Information received from a reliable source that an individual living in the area of Lilac Way is deliberately allowing their dogs into a children’s play area and encouraging them to chew the children’s swing in order to strengthens the dogs jaws… the swings are damaged as a result.
So many things are wrong with this, where do I start? What sort of fool would do this, and in anyway justify it in their tiny little minds? Officers will follow up. I suspect I could hazard a guess as to who it is….

12:07hrs – Report of disorder in the area of Pont Wen. One male arrested when officers attend and one remans outstanding.

14:35hrs – Reports of a wanted individual on the Wrexham General train station platform. Officers attend and extract. Thank you for the information, always appreciated. One team and all that, don’t let the baddies get the upper hand, there are more of us than them.

‍♂️ 14:35hrs – Foot chase on Bradley Road with another baddie who thinks he’s faster that the elite officers in the city. One detained and arrested on suspicious of handing stolen goods. Not today, not in Wrexham. #cheesycatchline.

✔️ 18:02hrs – Concerns raised for the welfare of a female and her child – welfare check completed all in order.

19:10hrs – Shoplifting at a bargain store on Holt Road – washing powder stolen. Tall male with a tattoo on his neck makes off from the location. Enquiries ongoing to identify.

❌ 19:19hrs – Reports of damage caused to a fence on Prince Charles Road.

19:36hrs – Sycamore Road – reports of a damaged window. Stone thrown…

❗19:58hrs – Glan Gors – fence damaged… not a millions miles apart. Times are similar are they all linked? Three youths seen, around 10-13 years old. Any info appreciated – A069501

The sad thing is they may be local children and causing damage in their own neighbourhood. So disappointing, and if a local authority tenant their behaviour could jeopardise their parents tenancy…

‍♀️ 22:42hrs – Arrest of a male wanted on a recall to prison – kept in Llay overnight (B&B rate, its very reasonable) and transferred to Berwyn this morning.

01:04hrs – Ruabon Road – male arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through substances.

That’s all folks, have a good night.

Luke
