Plans to sell beds and mattresses from Wrexham warehouse receive approval
Plans to use a warehouse on Wrexham Industrial Estate to sell beds and mattresses have been given the green light.
The unit on Bridge Road South has been used by the owner of the Goldilocks Cottage furniture shop on Henblas Street in Wrexham town centre for storage purposes.
Paul Johnson applied to expand his business in March by changing the use of the building for retail use.
The scheme has now been approved by planning officials from Wrexham Council using delegated powers.
In documents submitted to the local authority, agents acting on his behalf said it would generate extra income for the business.
They said: “The proposal put forward is in line with the current use of the site and is aimed at supporting the local economy and the client’s business.
“It is the client’s intention to sell and provide beds and mattresses from the store to customers.
“The client has been using the existing building to store mattresses and believes it would be beneficial for his business to change the use of the building.
“Supporting this application would assist in helping the clients existing business to thrive and develop as they can provide an income from the existing building.”
They added: “Our proposal ensures that an existing building is made use of, preventing further buildings on the industrial estate being unused.
“We believe the local authority should support this application as we see no justifiable reasons to refuse the application which is to be sited on land currently deemed as commercial.”
