Plans have been entered for a warehouse on Wrexham Industrial Estate to be used to sell beds and mattresses.

The unit on Bridge Road South is currently used by the owner of the Goldilocks Cottage furniture shop on Henblas Street in Wrexham town centre for storage purposes.

Paul Johnson now wants to expand his business by changing the use of the building for retail use.

In documents submitted to Wrexham Council, planning agents acting on his behalf said it would generate extra income for the business.

They said: “The proposal put forward is in line with the current use of the site and is aimed at supporting the local economy and the client’s business.

“It is the client’s intention to sell and provide beds and mattresses from the store to customers.

“The client has been using the existing building to store mattresses and believes it would be beneficial for his business to change the use of the building.

“Supporting this application would assisting in helping the clients existing business to thrive and develop as they can provide and income from the existing building.”

They added: “Our proposal ensures that an existing building is made use of, preventing further buildings on the industrial estate being unused.

“We believe the local authority should support this application as we see no justifiable reasons to refuse the application which is to be sited on land currently deemed as commercial.”

Comments are being invited on the proposals via the local authority’s website, with a decision expected at a later date.
