Plaid Cymru lose second councillor in eight days as Offa representative leaves group

The councillor for Offa, Cllr Kate Wilkinson, has left the Plaid Cymru group on Wrexham Council.

This is the second councillor to leave the group in recent days.

Just over a week ago Plaid Cymru lost Cllr Emma Holland when she announced she was leaving the group citing “a number of ongoing issues with Plaid Cymru” that senior group members were ‘aware’ of.

Cllr Kate Wilkinson stood and won Offa for Plaid Cymru back in 2022 beating former council stalwart Alun Jenkins – as well as the new MP for Wrexham Andrew Ranger.

Today Cllr Wilkinson declined to comment on her move.

Wrexham.com was also unable to get comment from local Plaid Cymru.

The move means Plaid Cymru are down to seven councillors, with the unaligned councillors now numbering four.
