More than 100 people gathered earlier this month to mark ‘Homeless Sunday’.

The names of 12 people who’d died while being homeless on the streets of Wrexham over the last year were read out during the service, which took place at St Giles Parish Church.

The congregation included people who had formally been homeless and were helped to get their life back on track by the Night Shelter Scheme run across Wrexham last winter.

Wrexham MP Ian Lucas, Mayor of Wrexham Rob Walsh and Police and Crime Commissioner, Arfon Jones were also in attendance.

Handmade mini-banners featuring reflections on homelessness have been hung in the church-yard, encouraging passers-by to remember those who are homeless.

Churches across the town will open once again this winter and volunteers are being trained to provide a warm welcome, a hot meal and a safe place for up to 10 guests once again.

More information about the Night Shelter Project and training dates can be found here.
