North Wales Police referred to IOPC as search for missing man continues

North Wales Police are continuing to search for a missing man in the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct area.

Emergency services were first called to the scene on Thursday 30 May.

In a short statement released today (June 3) North Wales Police confirmed that there continues to be an emergency services presence in the area as part of the ongoing search.

It has also been confirmed that the force has referred itself to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC).

A spokesperson said: “There continues to be a police presence in the area of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct again today (Monday, June 3rd) as searches are ongoing to locate a missing man.

“As there had been police contact prior to the man going missing, as required in these circumstances, we have made a mandatory referral to the
