Wrexham Council have announced that there will be a ‘Christmas Embargo’ on roadworks in and around the town centre over the festive period.

From Monday 1st December to Monday 5th January there will be no roadworks taking place in and around Wrexham Town Centre.

The embargo does not apply to any emergency works which may arise during the period.

Lead Member for Environment, Cllr David Bithell, said: “I’m sure shoppers and traders will welcome this ban on roadworks which will ensure they can all make the most of what Wrexham has to offer this Christmas without any disruptive roadworks.”

The Christmas Embargo on roadworks comes just weeks after it was announced that there would be some free car parking available in Wrexham Town Centre in the run up to Christmas.

Earlier this month the Council Executive Board voted in favour of free parking in the run up to Christmas with all council car parks free on Small Business Saturday 6 December and free in the People’s Market on Saturday 13 and 20 December. A move that has been welcomed by town centre traders and shoppers.

Details of parking charges are available on the Council’s website www.wrexham.gov.uk/carparking
