NEWSAR volunteers called to assist injured mountain biker in Llandegla
NEWSAR (North East Wales Search and Rescue) volunteers have come to the aid of a female mountain biker injured in Llandegla.
On Saturday afternoon (April 6) the team received a report that a female mountain biker had suffered a lower leg injury after falling from her bike.
The incident took place on a remote section of the Llandegla mountain bike track, making access challenging.
The cyclist sustained a significant lower leg injury, causing considerable pain and limiting mobility.
NEWSAR members administered initial pain relief and provided necessary medical attention to stabilise the casualty’s condition.
Once stabilised, the injured cyclist was carefully packaged to prevent further exacerbation of her injuries during extraction.
A spokesperson for NEWSAR said: “The team coordinated a safe and efficient extraction plan.
“Using specialised equipment, they carefully transported the casualty on a stretcher to a waiting Land Rover stationed nearby for onward travel to the road to meet the the Welsh Ambulance Service.”
