A unique independent store inspired by the ocean and water sports is set to open its doors in Wrexham’s flagship ‘micro-retailing experience’.

Wrexham-based ‘Ride the Wave’ is the latest business to move into the main indoor trading space of Chapter Court on Queen Street.

The small businesses made the announcement on its social media pages, confirming that it will receive the keys to its new unit in the former CeX building on August 1.

Specialising in clothing and accessories inspired by the ocean and water sports, Ride the Wave’s offer includes hoodies, t-shirts, changing and handmade jewellery and hair accessories.

In a statement, Ride the Wave said: “We’re very excited to let you all know we will be opening our new store in Wrexham’s Chapter Court the beginning of August.

“We get the keys on 1 August and hope to open pretty soon after.

“Keep an eye out for our grand opening date as we’ll be running some very special offers.

“Ride the Wave offers a unique clothing range inspired by the ocean and water sports – featuring hoodies, t-shirts, dungarees, and changing robes; handmade jewellery, hair accessories, and knitted headbands, bobs n beanies add a funky touch to the collection.

“Based in Wrexham, this small business celebrates the beauty of the ocean through stylish and comfortable clothing options.

“Join us in embracing the waves and showcasing your love for the sea.”

Ride the Wave will join Rough Hands, a craft ale tap room operated Andy Gallanders -owner of Bank Street Social and councillor for Rhosnesni – in the former Cex.

The former second hand entertainment store was transformed into a bright and airy space which has been divided into several small units for traders.

In March the keys to the development were handed to Fair Events Management Ltd which oversee the day-to-day running of the operation.

The team already runs multiple major events in Wrexham, including Wrexham Feast, WrexSands and the Wrexham Artisan Market.

It is hoped that the work of Chapter Court will help complement its city centre events as well as helping small and independent traders take the next step into a retail premises.

Planning permission was also granted this year to create a new food and drink space at the rear of the building.

Other traders at Chapter Court include CiCi Clothing, Obehi’s – African Community Market and Bevans Jewellery & Watch Workshop
