A former scout leader has today been sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to a series of sexual offences against young boys.

Martyn Tucker was initially arrested on the 7th August 2013 on suspicion of serious sexual assault and indecent assault on two boys under the age of 16 years.

Tucker admitted to those offences, and since then has been arrested for similar offences committed in North Wales, West Mercia, Cheshire and Bristol.

A further three victims were subsequently identified, and again, Tucker fully admitted to his involvement.

Today at Mold Crown Court Martyn Tucker, who pleaded guilty 26 serious sexual offences against young boys during the early 1970’s, has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.

In response to the sentence passed Det Insp Neil Harrison of Wrexham CID said: “Martyn Tucker, in his capacity as a scout leader was someone who held a position of trust. Young boys were left in his care at an age when they were vulnerable and at that time they placed their complete trust in him.

“Tucker abused that trust and in doing so destroyed their childhood and left them with memories that they have been forced to live with since.

North Wales Police welcomes the sentence given to Tucker by the courts today and the fact that Tucker pleaded guilty to these offences sparing this victims further trauma. It is now hoped that the victims can take some comfort from the fact that Tucker has been held to account for his actions many years ago.”
