Llangollen bridge closed after bin lorry hits wall
The bridge over the River Dee in Llangollen is closed today after a bin lorry collided with the wall.
North Wales Police have said, “Due to an ongoing road traffic collision the bridge on Castle Street Llangollen is currently completely closed to vehicles and pedestrians”
“Please avoid the area if possible”
It appears the road closure could be for some time as a structural engineer is required before any recovery can take place, due to concerns over the safety of the wall.
The incident is causing large queues on the nearby A5.
It is unclear what emergency diversion route would be if there is a serious incident on the A483 this afternoon, with the Newbridge route remaining long term closed off.
