Improvements planned for Wrexham’s electric vehicle charging network
New electric vehicle charging points are set to be installed on council-owned land across Wrexham.
It comes after the local authority secured £758,654 funding from Welsh Government’s Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle Transformation Fund 24/25.
Over the next year over 45 smaller electric vehicle charge points (EVCPs) units and two EVCP mobility hubs could be installed locally.
To help deliver the project Wrexham Council has signed a partnership with industry specialists Costelloes EV Group to cover the operation, maintenance and installation of the electric vehicle charge points.
According to Wrexham Council the agreement will help to expand the electric vehicle charging network, roll our EVCPs quicker and at a lower cost and improve customer service and experience.
Cllr David A Bithell, Deputy Leader and Climate Champion, said: “We’re delighted to sign the innovative partnership with Costelloes EV Group, to help us expand and improve upon our network of EVCPs.
“We want to support our residents to move towards using electric vehicles by providing them with more high quality, well maintained charge points across Wrexham, and securing an agreement with an industry specialist will help us to deliver that.”
David Costelloe, Managing Director of Costelloes EV Group, said: “We’re thrilled to be appointed to deliver Wrexham County Borough Council’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure, installing and operating a full range of EVCPs, as a first step in our partnership to deliver decarbonisation solutions across the county.
