Hundreds of students helped themselves to freebies of pizza, sweets and cake while discovering everything Glyndŵr University has to offer at its annual freshers fair.

The sports centre at the university’s Wrexham campus hosted the event on Thursday 26 September to the sound of music with a DJ from its new student night, Beans.

Wrexham branches of Nando’s, Domino’s Pizza and Pizza Hut were in attendance, along with representatives from local community groups, sports clubs and Wrexham offices of the Labour Party and Liberal Democrats.

Staff from across Glyndŵr University offered advice and handed out information on everything from managing money to student support services available and Athletic Union clubs.

Luke Murphy, Students’ Guild President, said: “The event was bigger and better than anything we’ve had before and it was amazing to see so many new students come along.

“All of the freebies are obviously a bonus, but the freshers fayre plays an important role in raising awareness of what’s going on and services available in and around the university and Wrexham in general.”

The Freshers Fair is one of a bundle of events taking place at the university this week to welcome in new students.

A comedian and hypnotist performed earlier in the week, following a welcome party on Sunday at the Centenary Bar. The events conclude with the launch of Beans, Wrexham’s new official student night, and a fun fair on campus.
