High winds and heavy rain that is affecting most of the country hit the Wrexham area overnight.

Overnight strong winds hit the region, with the highest winds being recorded in Aberdaron, were winds reached speeds of 109mph.

In Wrexham people got in touch via social media to say garage doors had been blown open, along with roof tiles and lamp posts moving in Brymbo.

Road signs were also reported to have been blown across the A483 northbound between the Ruthin Road and Wrexham Road.

There are no road closures in place, however the Council have been in touch to say that they have been removing branches and other minor blockages from roads.

The above picture was sent to us by Ian Jones who took it at half seven this morning on the A525 in Llandegla, which was also affected by power cuts. We also had other reports sent to us via our @wrexham twitter account:

The heavy weather is due to last into this evening.
