Heavy and persistent rain over the last few days has resulted in road closures and localised flooding across some parts of the county borough.

Today saw heavy periods of rain across the day, along hail stones and sleet in some places.

As a result of the weather a number of roads were closed this evening due to flooding, including the A5 both ways to flooding between B5605 and A483, one lane on the A483 northbound at Rossett and the A483 Northbound exit slip road was closed at J7 B5102 / Station Road. Tower Road in Acrefair was also flooded, however was passable to traffic last night.

Some parts of Wrexham also saw localised flooding, including Queensway (pictured above) and Plas Acton Road in Pandy.

As a result of the rain speed restrictions of 40mph were also introduced on parts of the A483.

The heavy rain shows no signs of calming down over the next 48 hours, with heavy rain forecast both today and tomorrow. A yellow weather warning for heavy downpours is currently in place across the early hours of tomorrow morning.
