Sudden heavy downpours caused flash floods across many parts of the town this afternoon.

Shortly after 3:30 this afternoon, Wrexham’s heatwave had a temporary ‘refreshing downpour’ as a heavy band of rain passed over the area. The following was the scene on Cefn Rd towards the industrial estate:

The heavy rain has left many roads flooded with standing water, particularly in and around the town centre, where we took this picture of Brook Street:

On Holt Road heading up to the Tesco roundabout the water was over the pavements, with one man cleaning the drains out manually to try and help it drain away:

Stantsy Bridge also has a fair amount of standing water underneath it – so drive carefully if heading in that direction!

Gavin Rodda sent us this post downpour picture of Caia Park, showing a large section of the road flooded.

The sudden downpour also caused events across the town to stop, with the Offa Carnival halted as a result of the rain.

Others however managed to escape the rain and find some shelter…!

The rain shower lasted less than half an hour and at the time of writing this, the sun is out again!

Our tweet prior to the storm is below, where we thought it would be much less intense!
