Firefighters have tackled a ‘fire in the open’ in Chirk.

Crews from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and Llangollen were called to the fire, which involved a 40ft oak tree, on Saturday 31 August.

One fire appliance attended the scene along with a Landrover Pump, which was mobilised from Oswestry.

Crews extinguished the fire using a hosereel jet with assistance from North Wales Llangollen crews.

50 per cent of the oak tree was damaged in the blaze.
