Emergency Vehicle Damaged On Traveller Site While Paramedic Helps Patient
The damage of a Welsh Ambulance vehicle has been branded a ‘malicious act’ after vandals targeted the vehicle while the service attended an incident on a Wrexham traveller site.
Earlier this morning Wrexham.com reported that a rapid response car from Flintshire had been vandalised while a paramedic was attending an incident in Wrexham.
North Wales Ambulance Service have since confirmed that the ‘malicious act’ took place while the paramedic was attending a patient at the traveller site on Ruthin Road, Wrexham.
Karl Hughes, the Welsh Ambulance Service’s Locality Manager for Flintshire and Wrexham, said: “In the early hours of this morning, Friday 6 November, a paramedic in a rapid response car was attending a medical emergency at the traveller’s site on Ruthin Road in Wrexham.
“While dealing with a patient inside of the address, the vehicle was damaged and its blue lights stolen.”
Mr Hughes added: “At a time when our ambulance service is faced with growing demand, it is hugely irresponsible for people to vandalise emergency vehicles of any type.
“This was a malicious act which means that a precious resource has had to be taken off the road for forensic examination and repairs, and is now therefore unable to respond to 999 calls.
“Such reckless action can put lives at risk, and we would appeal to anyone with information to call North Wales Police on 101 quoting reference number S170306.”
