Eagles Meadow shoppers praised for generosity in supporting mental health charity
Wrexham Shoppers have been praised for their “huge generosity” in supporting people’s mental health in North Wales.
Thousands of coins have been collected from the ornamental fountain at the Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre, which will all be donated to North East Wales Mind, the mental health charity for Wrexham and Flintshire.
The coins were enough to fill several buckets having been kindly dropped into the water by shoppers over the past few months.
Far from being a drop in the ocean, they will now make a huge difference to the lives of local people.
North East Wales Mind is here to fight for mental health in local communities. As well as counselling and coaching the charity provides information and advice, runs wellbeing and social activities and delivers mental health training to individuals and companies.
The coins will now be cleaned and counted before going towards helping the everyday work of the charity.
Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre Manager Josh Price said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has so kindly donated to our appeal.
“Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre is delighted to continue our support for North East Wales Mind, after we helped them to raise £4,000 through our Christmas grotto here last year.
“The charity provides vital support for people in our area who need access to mental health support.”
North East Wales Mind Business Development and Fundraising Lead, Hayley Fisher, said: “There’s a fantastic sense of community spirit in north Wales and it has been heart-warming to see the incredible generosity shown by people in donating so many coins.
“Every coin dropped into the fountain at Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre in Wrexham will go towards supporting local people at a time when they need it the most.
“This is a challenging time for people with the cost of living crisis, the energy crisis, and coming out of the Covid pandemic. That’s translating into more and more people contacting us for help.
“North East Wales Mind is always here to provide support.”
