Dedication & Hard Work of Wrexham Maelor Volunteers Celebrated
Six volunteers who have each been working at Wrexham Maelor Hospital for over five years have been honoured at a Volunteers Celebration Event.
Last Friday the ‘Robin Volunteers’ were honoured at a special event which was hosted by the Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham (AVOW) at Brymbo Cricket Club.
The Robin Volunteers carry out two different roles within the health service across North Wales. Robin Ward Volunteers act as a ‘befriender’ on an allocated ward and becomes part of the ward team, giving extra support and companionship to patients, relatives and staff members.
The Robin Guide Volunteers offers a directing service, greeting patients, relatives and visitors with a warm smile and a kind word and helping people to find their way around some of our larger hospital sites.
Last week Ken Skates AM The Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism presented the team with certificates acknowledged their hard work and contribution to the Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
If you are interested in joining the team and supporting patients and their families please contact Sue Marriott, the BCUHB Volunteers Manager, on 01978 727164 or [email protected]. Volunteers are asked to commit to volunteering once a week for 4 hours for at least 12 months.
