Council hunt project manager to lead work on landmark Wrexham Gateway Masterplan
Wrexham Council have announced an “exciting opportunity has arisen” for an experienced project manager to work on one of the most high profile capital investment projects that the Council has been involved in for many years.
The Wrexham Gateway project is a multi-million pound scheme which is set to transform one of the principle routes into Wrexham town centre. Wrexham Council, Wrexham Glyndŵr University, The Mersey Dee Alliance, Welsh Government and the UK Government are all working in partnership on project that could see a 5,000-seat stand built at the Kop end of Wrexham AFC’s Racecourse Ground, along with a four-star hotel and multi-storey car park nearby plus a range of developments in and around the station.
The job advert for the £60k role has gone live to hopefully attract a high calibre individual to ‘help deliver the Wrexham Gateway Masterplan’.
Anyone interested “…must have significant experience of working on major construction projects, with multiple partners and land owners and have experience of managing wide stakeholder interests.”
“You will manage the delivery of the masterplan on behalf of the Wrexham Gateway Partnership, which brings together the Council, the Welsh Government, Wrexham Glyndwr University and Transport for Wales.”
Whoever get the job is likely to become a familiar face, “This is a high profile role and the post holder will be the recognised lead for the delivery of the project and as such will be expected to provide advice and guidance to the wider partnership and to take the lead on communications.”
The scope of the role is detailed in the description, “The role requires the complete ownership and management of the project lifecycle, from inception to occupation (or completion for infrastructure works). This includes the development and management of the brief, design, procurement, construction, contract administration and disposal or occupation agreements. Managing multiple stakeholders and land owners throughout – including the development and delivery of a communications plan.”
Around £25m has already been set aside by the Welsh Government to create a transport hub at Wrexham General railway station, with a submission of an £18.3m bid to the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund to drive the overall scheme forward.
