A community fun day has raised over £1,000 for the Wrexham Miners’ project.

The team of volunteers behind Rhosddu Fun Day visited the facility on Maesgwyn Road to present a cheque for £1400 to the organisation.

This was the surplus from the event held on Rhosddu Park last month.

The popular event, which took place in June, saw huge crowds throughout the day enjoy live entertainment, sunshine and support local traders.

In a statement, the volunteers who organised the Rhosddu Fun Day, said: “The day went well and we’re grateful to all the stalls that donated as well as other local businesses that helped make it a successful day.

“We’re also grateful to The Railway Inn, which donated £100 and other local businesses Getin2shape, Vickie’s dog groomers and GHP Legal all donated towards advertising the event.”

Rhosddu Fun Day volunteers added: “The Wrexham Miners’ Project is a fantastic community resource – and welcomes visits from schools and community groups.

“It’s a Tardis that has so much going on and also makes a great breakfast!

“We’re delighted to be able to support another community enterprise having donated a similar sum to Wrexham Foodbank last year.”
