A local business owner has been praised for his work at a reception at 10 Downing Street.

Clive Barnard was invited to attend the event, which celebrated local skills champions, by Simon Baynes, the Member of Parliament for Clwyd South.

Clive is working on a number of projects in Clwyd South and Wrexham that will directly benefit the area and allow local businesses and charities to expand their operations.

These include the opening of a “Centre for International Trade Support” that his company will manage as an accessible resource for local businesses, and support for ongoing proposals for a North East Wales Investment Zone.

He is also helping a local care provider to establish a new respite facility in Chirk.

Speaking after the Reception, Clive Barnard said: “I am so grateful to Simon Baynes for inviting me to this Reception. This is such an exciting time for Clwyd South and its neighbouring constituencies.

“So, as well as being able to share the educational value of our international project with the Secretary of State for Education, I was able to outline our ambitious plans to other MPs representing Wales.”

Mr Baynes, speaking after the Reception, said: “Clive Barnard has excelled in growing the International Trade Support Group in Clwyd South and Wrexham and I am proud to have had the opportunity to recognise his excellent work at No 10 Downing Street.

“Clive is working on a number of projects that will directly benefit Clwyd South and Wrexham including proposals for a North East Wales Investment Zone and a proposal to help establish a new respite facility in Chirk.”
