Classic car enthusiasts in north Wales have put pedal to the metal to raise over £9,000 for the Wrexham Prostate Cancer Support Group.

Members of the Clwyd Practical Classic Club hosted their 32nd annual event at Caerwys recently with over 300 vehicles participating.

A total of £9,583.93 was raised on the day and donated to the Wrexham Prostate Cancer Support Group.

Members Frank Maddocks, Dave Jones and Chairman Mal Williams accepted the cheque at a special presentation at Holywell Golf Club.

“Since being formed ten years ago this is by far the largest donation we have received and we are so grateful,” said Mal.

“A huge thank you to all who made the much-loved event a success.

“Our support group pride ourselves in the raising of public awareness and promotion of the cause of prostate cancer and additionally to provide support for those men who have prostate cancer or suspect that they may have symptoms.

“We meet monthly to support each other and listen to expert advice and opinion from visiting speakers, consultants and specialist nurses.”

The next meeting of the Wrexham Prostate Cancer Support Group will take place at 7pm at the Wrexham Hotel (formerly Holt Lodge) on Wednesday 4 September.”
