Wrexham.com has invited the Members of Parliament and Members of the Senedd for Wrexham and Clwyd South to share a Christmas message for our readers.

Ken Skates, Clwyd South’s Member of the Senedd

I wish Wrexham.com readers a happy and peaceful Christmas and new year.

Sadly, there will be households across Wrexham and Clwyd South which are continuing to struggle this Christmas.

In 2024, as I have throughout this year, I will continue to press for the Welsh Government to support local people as much as possible with the resources available to them.

This will be the last Christmas before a General Election which much of the UK is clamouring for, and within the next 12 months we will finally have a chance to rid ourselves of the most right-wing Westminster Government in living memory. That in itself gives me optimism for 2024.

Locally, I’m confident we will see tangible progress made with crucial campaigns such as the new health centre for Cefn Mawr (watch this space), and like many others I look forward to one of the most exciting Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfods ever which will generate millions of pounds for our area.

In 12 months, I look forward to reflecting on a year which has seen a Labour Prime Minister elected; increased investment in Wales from Westminster and an easing of the financial pressure being felt by many local people and their families.

And, of course, promotion for Wrexham AFC.

I will continue to work as hard as possible to help improve Clwyd South and the lives of my constituents in 2024. Nadolig llawen.
