Wrexham.com has invited the Members of Parliament and Members of the Senedd for Wrexham and Clwyd South to share a Christmas message for our readers. ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌

Simon Baynes, Clwyd South’s Member of Parliament

Over the course of 2023, my team and I have worked to help thousands of constituents across Clwyd South with problems that they have encountered in their day-to-day lives and with enquiries about national and local issues.

I have had the privilege of raising many of these matters in the chamber of the House of Commons and in meetings and correspondence with Ministers in Westminster.

For me, this representation of your views and issues is the most important part of my job as your Member of Parliament.

In recent years the UK has faced unprecedented challenges, including a global pandemic and Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Yet despite these, 2023 bas also been a year of major progress. Inflation continues to fall, we have signed new trade deals and we have ushered in a new era under Charles III.

Throughout the course of the year I have visited a range of schools, businesses, organisations and residents. I have seen for myself the strong sense of community in Clwyd South, the hard work and innovation of our local businesses and the commitment of our County, Town and Community Councillors who always go the extra mile for their constituents.

I am pleased with the continued rollout of the £13.3 million Levelling Up Fund which I helped secure for Clwyd South from the UK government.

I have had the pleasure of visiting many of the sites that have benefitted from these funds, including Corwen, the Trevor Basin and Llangollen.

I am also delighted with the recent announcement that the UK government has confirmed a new Investment Zone, covering Clwyd South, Wrexham and Flintshire. This will serve as a catalyst for new jobs and further investment in the area for the years to come.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in Clwyd South who has done so much to sustain our communities throughout this year including our teachers, health professionals, care homes, churches, small and large businesses, police, retail and transport workers, Wrexham and Denbighshire Council staff, refuse disposal teams, charities, local organisations and volunteers.

If you need my help in 2024, please don’t hesitate to contact me at [email protected].

With my very best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year – Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda.
