Work has been completed on the construction of a new Play Area at Ashfield just off Crispin Lane, Wrexham. The Play Area was constructed with the aid of a grant of almost £45,000 from WREN and a £5,000.00 contribution from Rhosddu Community Council.

WREN is a not for profit business that awards grants to community projects from funds donated by FCC Environment to the Landfill Communities Fund.

Support has also been given by Wrexham County Borough Council and the Ashfield Residents Association who carried out the initial consultation.

The grant has paid for new fixed and natural play equipment which will include a zip wire, boulders, pendulum swing, cradle swings, multi unit with slide, tunnel, sand play with a spinning dish, mini digger, spring mobiles and seating.

Meleri Jones, WREN Grant Manager said “we are pleased to be able to support this exciting project that will make such a difference to the community. WREN has funded many projects in the Wrexham area and is looking for more community groups to come forward with their projects. Please visit our website www.wren.org.uk or call us to discuss your project ideas on 01953 714112”.

Local councillor, Cllr Steve Wilson, said “Many thanks to everyone involved in this project especially the Ashfield Residents Association who have ensured that the children in this area can benefit from this wonderful new project.”
