Bellevue Park to host traditional Christmas light switch on

Bellevue Park is to play host a traditional Christmas light switch on.

The festive event, which has been organised by members of Offa Community Council, will take place from 4pm on November 26.

Bellevue park is a traditional Victorian park with a bandstand at the heart of 30 trees, all of which will be lit up at around 6:30pm. Almost three miles of fairy lights are being used to illuminate the trees.

Stalls selling crafts and refreshments – including a hog roast, fish and chips, hot dogs, hot mince pies, Wrexham Lager and mulled wine and hot chocolate – will be available to browse while soaking in the festive atmosphere.

There will also be fairground rides for children.

Music and entertainment will be provided by Victoria Infants choir singing carols, the Ifton brass band, Ysgol Clywedog Caribbean Pan Band and Bulgarian folk dancing.

An oompah band will be there to keep the celebrations going until 8pm.

Father Christmas himself has also promised to drop in and we’re told it is guaranteed to snow – lots!

Alex Jones, one of the event’s organisers, said: “After the past trying 18 months we wanted to treat our residents to a lovely traditional Christmas event in the park and hope to make this an annual event.”

The Bellevue Park Christmas Light Switch On will take place from 4pm on November 26. The event is free to enter.
