Awards set to celebrate those going above and beyond to boost biodiversity
Local communities and individuals who are working to protect and enhance biodiversity are set to be recognised at a special ceremony.
Bionet, the Local Nature Partnership for North East Wales, has opened nominations for its 2024 awards.
Eight categories are open for nominations, with the work of those making a positive impact in their local community set to be recognised at a special at Venue Cymru in February.
A spokesperson said: “We believe it is important to celebrate successes achieved for biodiversity.
“In the face of the ecological emergency, a lot of the news we hear has a negative narrative but there are lots of people making a positive impact through local actions.”
The eight categories open for nominations are:
- Young Person’s Award
- Community Group Award
- Primary School Award
- High School Award
- Business Award
- Biodiversity Friendly Development Award
- Town or Community Council Award
- Volunteer Award
The deadline for submitting applications is 1 December 2024 and the awards ceremony will be on the 1 February 2025 at Venue Cymru.
